A Hole in the World
Ok the whole firey romantic thing was almost as cringe worthy as pancake kisses.
LOL at the “You just like stabbing me”
It was nice to see Wes ask Gunn how he felt about it, also nice to see Gunn ok it but still care enough about Fred to take offense if she got hurt. I actually felt like they were friends again here.
WTF? Cavemen vs Astronauts? Ok, the fact they were actually ARGUING over it was laughable, but yeesh. The mind boggles trying to decide how that conversation even got started. Tho it also goes to show just how easy they push one another's buttons.
Ok, it doesn't show but I sense Knox is bitter...
Hmmm, maybe Angel realizes he and Spike will just keep tearing each other down. Snickered at the “You mean we annoy other people” like from Spike. I got the feeling that Angel trying to get Spike to leave wasn't all about just wanting to get rid of him. Perhaps he realizes there is some self destruction happening there as well? One can hope...
The look on Lorne's face when Fred sings those few words was chilling. I think he knew right then she was going to die.
Spike obviously likes and cares for Fred. This is the first time in a number of seasons that I liked him. For once he didn't have an ulterior motive for wanting to help her. He just truly wanted to help. Kind of reminds me how he seemed to feel about Joyce.
Why is she still in her regular clothes in the hospital bed? Sorry, just curious. It stuck out like a sore thumb for me.
LOL at Wes shooting the guy. The idiot has obviously never actually MET Wes to think he wouldn't be working on Fred's case.
Huh, still up in the air on what I think about Gunn with the Conduit.
So, the Senior Partners already own Gunn. How much of him do they already own exactly and can he get it back? (When the demon takes your body it doesn't get your soul. That's gone...)
Lorne is obviously growing darker. I'm not sure exactly what prompted this exactly but we can see the dip at the top of the hill for him here. I didn't have a big problem with him hitting Eve, again he cares deeply for Fred, but the line about killing her himself.... Dunno. Lorne from yesterday would have been content to let Angel kill her I think.
So we're back to the original demon. Interesting. And they apparently killed each other off left and right. Also interesting.
The source books can find anything. Huh, I wonder if Wes really understood the power of those things.
Fred is still obviously VERY haunted by Pylea. I wouldn't be surprised to have learned she still had nightmares about it. She is also haunted by the feeling of helplessness she obviously experienced.
Watching Fred lose her memories was so sad. Knowing you were dying is bad, but losing the memories that are near and dear to you is worse.
What book is Wes reading to her? I assume it's a classic of some kind, but I didn't recognize it.
LOL Ok, I don't know if it's David or Mike, but someone get those boys a new sword pose. Whichever one it is always uses the same one initially.
Knox worships it? Heh, Gunn's gonna kick some ass....
Why does the Guardian of the Well not like Spike? I mean I realize he's annoying, but for someone who hasn't been able to lie for what I'm betting is a good number of centuries, he seems to take specific offense to Spike. Just interesting....
So, Knox chose Fred. Huh. Did Illyria have some kind of Shanshu prophecy? Is this something they should have seen coming? If it's predestined, shouldn't it be written somewhere?
As first Fred's comment about the cavemen winning seems vaguely amusing, but then you start to wonder about the Shanshu prophecy and the ongoing battle between Angel and Spike. Foreshadowing?
So LA is where Illyria's kingdown had been. Another Hellmouth maybe?
Wow, Gunn is taking it hard that this whole mess comes back to him. And once again he kills for Fred.
I'm intrigued by something that might be older than the concept of time. Is there anything else out there that fits into that category? The First? Which reminds me.... is The First dead because they closed the Hellmouth, or is it just trapped? It seems like you couldn't kill something that is kind of the source for all things evil. Sorry... tanget...
Ok, so I understand the concept that Illyria will basically drag anything down with it in order not to be stuck in the coffin again, but why can't they just bring Fred there? Then no people have to be in the way. Unless I'm missing something with the concept.
We saw Buffy make the choice to save Willow by trading the Box of Gavrock once and questioned if she was making the right choice. Now we see Angel being forced to make a disturbingly similar choice. And like Buffy he chooses to save his friend, his family.
Fred's line “I walk with heroes” seems like a big of foreshadowing as well.
“There's a hole in the world. Seems like we should have known about this.” Again I'm taken back to if this was written somewhere.
So, Wes admits he's loved her since he's known her. Not a bad thing, just something we've all suspected I guess.
“Why can't I stay?” was the most painful line. Amy gave a very nice performance and deserves to be recognized for it.
Again since I was spoiled in part for this (Not the episode in particular, but the death of Fred and Gunn's involvement), I'm sure I ended up not liking it as much. I was never a big spoiler person. For once I actually liked Spike and wanted to see him kick the crap out of something. Amy gave a fantastic performance and we got to see that Knox was as slimey as he felt. Angel is willing to sacrifice anything for a friend and we're still going to be left to wonder if he made the right choice. Buffy stopped the Mayor at the end, but at what price? And we see that Gunn is slipping. The dark side that WR&H used to manipulate him is being brought out full force. And Wes finally got what he wanted after so long to have it ripped away rather cruelly.
