Hope this OK to put here. Since we're Whedon related and will be appearing at Dragon*Con... For those that have no idea what the 76th Battalion is: The 76th Battalion was begun as a group of fans who wished to create a costuming group, something along the lines of the 501st Battalion. While there were some Browncoat soldier costumes out there, they wouldn't give quite the impact that a group of people all dressed in a regulated uniform would look. So the goal was to keep the uniforms as alike as possible, keep them professional looking, and make an impression. Our first public appearance is planned for Dragon*Con 2007 where we will be marching under the banner of the SouthEastern BrownCoats (SEBC). They have graciously offered us a place with them marching in the Saturday morning parade. So far, we have over thirty people signed up to appear in uniform for this year's Dragon*Con. So please look for us, cheer us on, and spread the word to your friends. 76th Battalion Website: 76thbattalion.homestead.com/index.html76th Battalion Forums: 76thbattalion.proboards59.com/index.cgiIf you have more questions or wish to join us, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help!

Thanks for the post Kaele. I was hoping someone would put that on here. Looks like you guys have the market cornered on being organized. You are all very welcome here and we can not wait to meet this new group of Firefly Fans at Dragon*Con 2007 this year. Pass the word along to all your comrades and tell them to share their thoughts and ideas over this way sometime and I will try and stop by and introduce myself as well on your forums to help get the word out. In my humble opinion Dragon*Con is pretty much worth a car, plane, or train ride from anywhere.

I am the Color Sergeant for the 76th and will be one of the people responsible for overseeing the inaugral march of the 76th. The Southeast Browncoats organization was kind enough to invite us to march with them, as well as share table space this year.
This Dragon Con will see the first official gathering of the 76th, and I have to say that it will be the launch of something big. Our numbers are growing and the command staff have us organized and thinking like a unit. I have a good feeling that the 76th will rival the 501st in the years to come.

Private VeX, here, and I'll be coming from Arizona to march in the inaugral march of the 76th with the Southeast Browncoats. We have members coming from Canada, South Africa, Australia, and possibly England. I am so excited because this is my first con.

I want to march with the Firefly crowd in costume, but I don't think I'll be able to pull off the uniform for the 76th. I can still march with the SEBCs, right?

Hey there - Magdalena from the 76th! I travelled from Australia to march with all my commrades - it was worth every cent and effort - even the 23+ hours flying time! I love the browncoat verse! I never find folk I don't know... just family I haven't met yet!!
Hope to see you all at D*C in 2008! It would be wonderful to have a panel with Tom (Col Tristan) Mike (Major Lazarus) and Bill (SGM Harris) or even Carl (CSG Boothe) to talk about the formation of the battalion, how folk can support it as members without marching, about how decisions were made in the early days, how they are formulated and worked through now and how we hope to get bigger and better and spread the word about our BDHs throughout the 'verse!
I am so excited to be coming to D*C again this year!!
