Before you start posting, there are a few things you should know.
If you do not abide by these simple rules and guidelines you will be found out and if you persist, harsh consequences will be taken. Hope I don't sound too scary!
On spamming
What is spamming?
Short. Pointless. Annoying. Messages.
Now, there aren't a lot of us here, so I really don't care about spamming too much. It's highly unlikely that we will manage to overload the system, or cause too many problems with it. I do ask for some restraint in the matter though. Duplicate threads and double posting are pet peaves of mine. Also, I will be a nazi about chat speak. I hate trying to read a message that looks like this: "I luv Spyke cuz he is the hawtest and I luv Spuffy 4-v-r." It's annoying, ugly, and idiotic. Don't do it.
If you want your post to be read, I suggest using capitals in the right places, paragraphs, so your post is easier to get through; full stops and commas where appropriate. You won't be in trouble if you don't use correct punctuation, but many members will probably skip over your posts.
Look before you post. Make sure there are no existing threads about the topic you wish to discuss. If you make what we call a "duplicate thread" then we will close it and send it away without warning.
No insulting
Sounds obvious, I realize, but it needs to be said. So just respect one another.
No Advertising
This means no promoting for the sake of it. You are allowed to post a link to your website, or put it in your profile, as long as you're not constantly screaming "HEY GO TO MY WEBSITE!" Mass advertising will result in a ban.
No talking about downloading episodes
I know you want to see them, but hey, it's illegal and we don't condone it. We don't want to get shut down because of impatience.
Language
I have turned off the censor on this forum, but that doesn't mean you have the right to start cursing and freaking out. Dragoncon attracts plenty of people who are either young, or don't condone such language. Be respectful. Cursing that is seen on the shows I'm more than okay with.
This goes for fanfic as well. If you're posting a fanfic that is adult in nature, be sure to label it appropriately in the subject line so that people know what they are getting into before they click.
And that's it. Just use your common sense. If something seems like it's pushing the envelope, then don't push!
Karma
The Karma system is in place to reward people who do good things on the board, and to punish those who are out of line. However, it's not a full proof system. Therefore, if you do give or take any Karma, you must post in the Karma thread, located in the FAQ section, telling why. If I see someone who's Karma has changed but I don't see a post telling why, I'll be forced to put it back the way it was. It's the only way to police the system and make sure it's not being abused.
