These are some of the most commonly asked questions as we get nearer to convention time. Answers are provided by Ziggy to whom we owe our gratitude.
Q: Where is the Whedon Track Located
A: The Whedon Track will be located in the Hilton Hotel, I believe in the Cobb and Dekalb rooms (but I might be wrong....I know Cobb is one, and I *think* Dekalb is the other). 80% of our programming will take place in those two rooms. Check the website ( www.whedonuniverse.com/full.html) for the most current version of the schedule. Be warned, the schedule is subject to change over the next couple weeks as we just added another last minute guest, Ken Feinberg (the Chaos Demon that Dru dumped Spike for).
Q: What about programming outside of the track room?
A: If any programming (such as guest Q&A, Buffy Horror, The Shindig, etc.) is taking place somewhere other than the track room, the schedule will say which ballroom. If the schedule doesn't say a different location, then it's in the track room. Larger events will most likely be held in the Hyatt.
Q: Where are autograph sessions/Where is the Walk Of Fame?
A: I can't remember which hotel the Walk Of Fame is in this year, possibly the Mariott again. As for when people will be at their autograph tables, that's basically up to the individual guest's schedule. But I do know that James Marsters will be performing in a concert OUTSIDE of the con on Saturday night (see my post from a few days ago about concert info), so don't plan to see him around that night.
Q:When should I show up for panels?
A: Most activities have about a 30ish minute break in between to give people time to shuffle around. You should show up for most panels/games at least 15 minutes early to get a good seat. For larger events, there will be lines that you will want to show up early to stand in (or hire a minion to stand in line for you). For Q & A sessions, (judging from the last time Marsters was at the con) I would suggest you show up about an hour early. This also applies to the Buffy Horror Picture Show.
Q: If I want to see a Q & A and be in the front row, can I just see the panel before that one and then hang around to get a good seat once they clear the room?
A: NO! Absolutely NOT! Be warned that the DragonCon Security Staff will make you leave the room and get in line with everyone else. The one and only exception to cheating the line is if you are disabled!
Q: How crowded will the track room be?
A: This will actually be the first year of the Whedon Track (we used to just be the Buffy/Angel Track) so we're expecting a pretty large crowd now that we've incorporated Firefly/Serenity into the mix. Follow my tips on showing up early and you should be ok. We do have a much larger room this year though so hopefully we won't have too many people stuck out in the halls (but it's been known to happen).
Q: Is there anything I can do to help?
A: A good way to beat some of the lines is to volunteer to help the track with setup/breakdown or panels and events, volunteer to be on panels, or play and win some of our many games. We are also very appreciative of people who donate items to use as prizes for our games. Generally if someone is going above and beyond to help our staff out then we usher them to the front of the lines. This does not apply to guest Q & A though as we do not want to be killed by the large mob.
Q: Can I get a part in the Buffy Horror Picture Show?
A: Both of our casts are full with the exception of needing one male to play a minion in the first show (which is the formal/costumed cast). However, if you would like to go on the understudy list, you can email me at ziggy.ziglar at gmail.com
Q: What does my Dragon*Con badge cover?
A: Your badge will cover all tracks and all on-site events (basically 99% of the convention). You will need extra money to buy autographs and merchandise from the dealer's room/art hall.
Q: I heard James Marsters is playing in Atlanta the weekend of Dragon*Con. Does my badge cover the concert?
A: NO! The concert is scheduled to take place outside of the Dragon*Con hotels and you will need to buy a separate ticket from Ticket Master to attend. For more info on this, visit: www.jamesmarsters.com/home.html
