Joss shakes up the Marvel Universe with his take on the X-Men.
I lost interest in the X-Men awhile back due to the fact that, as far as storylines go, it just had to bleeding many of them. I couldn't keep track of the characters, I didn't know who I should care about and the only through line seemed to be Wolverine and his badass-ness. But Joss has changed all that.
Writing for one of his self professed favorite childhood superheroes must be a pretty amazing experience, and Joss writes Kitty with the brilliance we've all come to expect of him. The X-Men take on a more light hearted feel, while still delving into the darkness they are so famous for and, for once, Wolverine doesn't manage to steal every scene he's in.
What can I say? I love it.

The Astonishing books are amazing. Joss has gone places and done things with these characters that I could have never imagined (Wolverine as a prim British school girl?!). It makes me remarkably sad to know that the Whedon/Cassiday team will soon be coming to an end as this arc is wrapped up. He has even managed to introduce a new character that you can love as much as the originals.

I loved how much of the Joss fun has come across in this series which has always taken itself a little too seriously in my opinion. Everything always seem like it was such doom and gloom in the X-men universe and now, with Joss at the helm, it's still series, but it's also entertaining rather than depressing. I'll be sad to see the story end, too, but I guess he's got a lot on his plate right now with Buffy, Runaways, and potentially Angel.
