The hit series by Brian K. Vaughan takes an interesting turn as Joss Whedon grabs the reigns. Two issues in, the runaways have left sunny California to pound the streets of New York city, rubbing elbows with Marvels greatest superheroes, and super villians.
I was a little skeptical about the start of this new run. I thought the story line was a bit off from the usual Joss style we've come to expect. But now, after issue two, I think I see where he's going, and I am loving it.

I have to admit to not reading Runaways from the start. I have only picked them up since Joss took over, but he's made it pretty easy for a reader new to the storyline to pick up the relationship dynamics. My husband and I both agreed that the first issue seemed to hold less of the Joss-y goodness we're used to, but things seem to be picking up now. I'll see if I can do some catching up as I'm going to drop an ungodly sum of cash-y money at the comic book store this evening.

Runaways really is a fantastic story and I'll admit that I only started reading it when I found out Joss was taking it over. But after the first book, I couldn't stop. It was just so good. Runaways is, to date, the only comic which I've read start to finish, not missing a single issue INCLUDING the rare free comic that came out on last year's free comic book day. I'm rather proud of that. I can't even say I've read all the Buffy comics! (though that will change when the omnibus comes out) I'm anxious for the next issue. It's been over a month since the last one, so it should be out any day now.
