Ni hao, 'Coats! Most folk in the 'Verse know who I am... *g* If you don't then you should get to know me! Not only do I run a CP Store that began with, and is dominated by, Firefly and Joss inspired wares, but I am involved with the Ariel Ambulance Rescue Group(AARG) as well, not to mention our own Ohio Browncoats and the SOBs (Southern Ohio Browncoats) to be specific! I also predominantly visit Fireflyfans.net and run a little thread game known as Caption Tightpants. It is the original, and I like to believe, best Caption game in the 'Verse. I'm hoping to meet more new Browncoats at D*C this year than I did last year, though the ones I met were very shiny! Look for me in my Browncoat...err...that won't narrow it down...though I'll probably do a Jayne costume one day, and a Wash costume another...dang...just look for the LEMUR in a hawaiian shirt that will tag along with me. Yes I said, "LEMUR". If you don't know about lemurs, you'll just have to ask. >

You know, you and I should really chat sometime. I'm actually from Northern Kentucky, just on the other side of the river from Cincinnati. You guys ever do anything round there? My lease is up in November, so I'll be leaving New York and heading home and I would LOVE to have some browncoats to visit when I get there.

Hello.
Not sure if this is the right place, if not let me know, but I was wondering about Photo Ops at Dragoncon. I had heard their would be photo ops availible and that it was being handled by either DC or the track. So do you have any information about the photo ops, like the who is handling it and if the track how much they will be?
Thank you.

A good place for this would be in the general section, or under the FAQ heading. But we're happy to answer any questions we can wherever they turn up. I don't have the particulars on this as of yet, so I'm going to assume we don't know yet. Wayne, you might know more than me, so if you've got the info, let me know, and I'll slap it into the FAQ section.

This isn't an official response just based on my experience the past few years. In the 'Walk of Fame' (http://www.dragoncon.org/dc_events.php#Fame) where the celebrities usually spend several hours each day they charge whatever they'd like for autographs and/or photos. Most folks including the BDHs have charged $20 per autograph and with that they will let you take one or two photos of them or a photo of yourself and them. Some other celebs have charged per autograph and per photo. Some have even charged more if they're more famous such as Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) last year. Kevin

I am the Miranda that Kevin was talking about (he was so kind as to email me about your post) There are plenty of us in NKY who hang out with the SOBs. TCM (Hi by the way!!) has been a member much longer than me, but we have a good time when we get together. There is a SOB shindig at least once a month. You should let us know when you get back into town. We always welcome a newbie to the group. Here's the yahoo group that we chat on... groups.yahoo.com/group/firefly-ohio

Kevin I know that is the typical charge but the photo ops I was refering to where professional ones. Done by a photographer and they typically run $30 and up in the cases of Mr Marsters they are typically around $60. A lot of people are interested in doing them but no one can find any info on any of the sites. I asked his manager when Mr Marsters appeared in NJ last weekend and that is when I was told the event was handling it. However, I was unsure if this fell under the track or Dragoncon itself.

Dragon*con will be taking care of that, to the best of my knowledge. As I haven't been on staff very long, I can't give a one hundred percent answer on this, but I'm fairly certain that we have little to nothing to do with the walk of fame schedules and events.

There is a department within Dragon*Con that organizes and manages the Walk of Fame and the Whedon Universe has nothing to do with it at all. The best group of folks to get in touch with is Guest Relations but honestly it is completely up to the Guest if they wish to charge or not charge or even provide you with a photo op at all....but for the most part all the guests are more than happy to spend a moment or two with a fan even if it is in front of the lens. Just ask!

I'm counting on attending DragonCon this year, however, I am still deliberating whether or not I should try to obtain a hotel room. I'll be happy with a broom closet as long as it is in one of the Unholy Trinity con hotels. Kudos to whoever created the roommate request thread.
Last year I was two different Kaylees, Inara, an unidentified Registered Companion, Carmen Sandiego, and some cheesy and conventional nameless fairy tale princess on Monday because I was out of money and ideas for executing something less dull.
This year I am using all my money for autographs and buying drinks for Browncoats, so instead of commissioning a goth tweak on the layer cake Shindig Kaylee dress (Black and red anyone?) I am probably recycling last year's costumes, assuming I still fit in them.
I am so psyched about this track and the fact that Dru and Spike (or at least their expressors) will be attending the con this year. What a match!
